#64 - 365 day project started!!

Ah the 365 day project.
The challenge: take one photo everyday to try and improve your photo skills. I have my Canon 50D which is the reason i want to do this project. To get to know the in's and out's of it.
This is also a great way to remember what you did each day.

I tried this project a few years ago and only made it 2 months. I feel by putting it out there, (to the internet) it will make me more accountable and i will actually finish a full year.

Wish me luck!!

Day 1 - Wednesday, December 1, 2010
I gave myself the start day and what happens? I don't remember till 10:30pm that i need to take my first picture. I had just got home from getting my shots for our upcoming trip. Two in each arm!!

Day 2 - Thursday, December 2, 2010
My brother turns 11th birthday!!

Day 3 - Friday, December 3, 2010
Preparations for a baby shower i attended and made a cake for. These are the little booties i made for the cake topper. A total of 5 hours went into these bad boys! They turned out great though!!

Day 4 - Saturday, December 4, 2010
A day to be remembered! My first (and definitely not my last!) eggnog milkshake from McDonalds! These haven't been around for probably 8 years and i've been talking non-stop about wanting another one for probably...8 years :)

Day 5 - Sunday, December 5, 2010
My brothers birthday party for his friends.
He asked me to do a soccer ball cake, and here it is! It was super fun to make, and super delicious to eat.

Day 6 - Monday, December 6, 2010
"It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!"

#33 - Go Kayaking with my husband

#33 - Go Kayaking with my husband - 101 things to do in 1001 days

My husband and I spent our one year wedding anniversary at the beautiful Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet. We took a 30 minute drive to Tofino to check out the town and decided last minute to go sea kayaking.
Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we started getting our gear on to head out, so i opted to leave my camera behind. Of coarse, as soon as we got on the water, the sun came out.
There was 4 couples (including us) in our group, and 3 out of the 4 couples rode in a tandem kayak. The other couple took single kayaks. Overall, i enjoyed our trip but have a few tips.

1. If its your first time kayaking and you having someone you can pair with to take a tandem kayak, do it! The couple that decided to take separate kayaks tipped over 3 times. Two of the times in a rougher area of the sea, and he had a hard time getting back into his kayak.

2. If you get sea sick easily, take something for it before hand. I was fine most of the trip, but for the 30 minute we had to sit in the water waiting for the guy to get back into his kayak, i got super nauseous.

And because i think blog posts are much better with pictures, here is another jumping picture of me on Long Beach in Tofino :)

Update #101 things to do - #30 & #72 complete!!

Finally, after about 6 or 7 years of wanting and trying to get away for a weekend trip to Kelowna, I made it! Which lets me mark off #72 - Go to Kelowna on my 101 things to do in 1001 days.
My husband, myself and 3 other couples shared a beautiful cabin for the weekend. It rained off and on, but made for some beautiful pictures :)

Rain falling onto parts of the Okanagan Lake
Followed by a double rainbow :)

Kelowna has some of the best winery's in the world! So of coarse we decided to take a trip to the amazing Mission Hills Winery (which crossed off #30 on my list - Visit a winery)

Do you think i'm happy to be there?

Mothers Day

I was so excited when Melissa asked me to take photos of her, her mom and sister as a mother’s day gift for her mom. I have known Melissa and her family for about 16 years now so it was a lot of fun shooting them. Here are a few of my favorite photos..
