update on 101 things to do in 1001 days

11
I'm more than half way through my 1001 days to do 101 things. Looking at the list now, more than 1.5 years later, there are things that i don't care to do, and things that i know i won't be able to do.

Hopefully i'll be able to get at least half of my list done before my 1001 days are up.

#8 Have a happy, healthy baby - We had a beautiful baby boy, May 4, 2012 :)

#11 get an outdoor clothing line - We found a $4 clothing line that we were able to set up to go across our patio. No exactly what had in mind, and it doesn't hold towels or anything too heavy, but it does the job.

#19 -
learn to make egg subji - Done. I've made it twice now. 1st time, turned out great, but a little too spicy for my liking. 2nd time, turned out ok. I didn't add enough spices, worried i would make it too spicy again. My guess is that the 3rd time will be the best!

#26
take my brothers camping - The September 2011 long weekend, we barley got a camping spot up at Chilliwack Lake. We ended up camping in the "over flow" camping spots, with some other family members. It ended up being a great spot with more privacy then the normal spots.

#28 s
ee Mary Poppins the musical (for the 2nd time) - Thankfully the musical was on tour and stopped in Seattle May 2011. We made a weekend of it and also managed to get in some shopping.

#47 Drink 8 glasses of water a day for 21 days - Definitely done while pregnant!

#54 use Nintendo Wii for 1 month for at least 15 min a day - February 2011! I managed to do it every day! Some days i had to force myself to do the 15 minutes, other days i'd do it a lot more.

#57 shadow a photographer for a day or two -I purchased Jasmine Star's 4 day online photography class. The class followed her for 4 days: 2 days before, day of, and day after a wedding and what her process is plus tips on how to shoot.

#71 -
take little brothers on weekend get away - We took them to Seattle for the weekend in September where we shopped, visited Pike Place, and learned to make our own glass ornaments at a glass blowing place.

#74 Bring/Send flowers to a friend for no reason - flowers bought for 2 co-workers.

#83 -
ride a parade float - June 2011 i played the role as "The Teacher" on the Rainbow Food and Gas float in Yarrow Days parade. The float was school themed to celebrate the building of a new elementary school.#87 use re-usable bags for 6 months straight - Started Aug 8, 2010 - pretty sure i did it for more then 6 months. I did pretty bad during this Christmas holiday, but i am back on track.

#95 write letter to future self - I didn't really write a letter, more like point form things i want to keep in mind when parenting. (ex. remember to be present)

#96 -
go to the movies by myself - I went to a movie i thought my husband would hate and that I could wait a few weeks after the rush to go and see. Twilight saga: eclipse! It was great, and i didn't feel as uncomfortable as i thought i would going by myself.

#98 Do 3 puzzles - Done!! Christmas break is the perfect time to sit at the table with pumpkin spiced latte and do a puzzle.

New Lens

I took a big step and I invested in a new lens a few weeks ago. It was a scary purchase, but so worth it. Now the photos I envision in my head I can produce with my camera and this lens.

My first chance to use it was for a family get away to Kelowna.

Here are some of my favorite

Cuzco

We stayed in Cuzco 3 days before heading to Machu Picchu for our hike.
I was not impressed with how cold it was there. I guess i was spoiled with the 3 weeks of 30 degree weather in the other countries :)

Colonial, Uruguay

Colonial, Uruguay.
We took a 1 hour buquebus ferry ride from Buenos Aires to this cute town. It was funny though, even though it was only an hour ferry ride, we changed time zones! Colonial is an hour ahead of Buenos Aires.

The Buquebus website wasn't very user friendly, so i called to get us our tickets. I had to repeat the spelling of our names 3 times each, in Spanish, and they still go it wrong!

We had to sit in first class on the way back. They were the only tickets available.

Lima, Peru

Lima, Peru

We lucked out and ended up in Lima for their birthday. First thing in the morning they had a parade. Each group is from a different town in Peru who came to celebrate Lima's birthday with the city.

Interesting food:
McDonalds Chicken Mac

McDonalds delivers!

They have buckets of chicken, just like KFC.
For $9 you get 7 pieces of chicken, 6 chicken nuggets, 3 small fries, and 1 coleslaw

This is Peru's national pop. It is delicious! Its kind of taste like cream soda and bubble gum!

3 pieces of pizza & 3 drinks for $1.50!

Bitu's Dinner in Cuzco. Alpaca steak. I tried a piece, it was pretty tasty.

Sign at one of our hostels.
We thought it was pretty funny.

We bought three 20' X 29' paintings.
We told them the only way we would buy them is if we could find a suitcase to fit them. They insisted they could make something for it and this is what they came up with!
We checked it and it made it to Vancouver without a scratch.
